Affordable Furniture Movers
Salt Lake City, Utah
An honest comparison against borrowing a truck and asking two friends.
For a single piece of furniture there is a real alternative, and it is worth comparing properly rather than assuming either way.
Just-In-Time Moving handles single items across Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County.
What doing it yourself actually costs
The rental, fuel, and a deposit. Straps and pads if you want the item to survive. Several hours of your time and two other people's, including collecting and returning the vehicle, which is longer than the job itself.
Then the risks. A rental truck handles nothing like a car, particularly on a grade or in wind. Furniture carried by people who do not do it daily gets marked. Doorframes get marked. And the injury risk on a staircase with something heavy is not theoretical, it is the most common thing that goes wrong.
None of that makes it a bad choice. It makes it a choice with a real cost that is not zero.
When doing it yourself makes sense
The item is light enough for two people without strain. No stairs at either end, or one short straight flight. Ground floor to ground floor. Nothing fragile or valuable. You already have a suitable vehicle. And genuinely available help rather than promised help.
When it does not
Stairs, at either end. Particularly a turn at the bottom, which is where things stop and where people get hurt.
Anything genuinely heavy. A sleeper sofa is far heavier than it looks because of the steel frame folded inside. Appliances, safes, treadmills and solid wood pieces are all in this category.
Anything that matters. If a piece is valuable or irreplaceable, the sum you are saving is small against what you are risking.
Anything that will not obviously fit. Discovering that with the item wedged on a landing is worse than knowing beforehand.

Making it cheap if you do book
Single-item jobs are billed on the crew's time, so tell us accurately what the item is and what the route is at both ends. Send photographs of anything awkward and of any staircase.
Have the route clear and somewhere for the truck to sit.
Ask us. If we think it is genuinely a two-person job with easy access, we will say so rather than booking it.

What's Included
Furniture Movers — FAQ
When should I just do it myself?
Light enough for two people without strain, no stairs or one short straight flight, ground floor at both ends, nothing fragile, a suitable vehicle already available, and help that is genuinely available rather than promised.
When is it a false economy?
Stairs at either end, particularly a turn at the bottom, anything genuinely heavy such as a sleeper sofa or an appliance, anything valuable, and anything you are not certain will fit through the route.
Will you tell me if I do not need you?
Yes. If it is genuinely a two-person job with straightforward access, we would rather say so than book a crew for it. Describe the item and the route and we will give you a straight answer.
