Add-On Services and Whether They Are Worth It
Every mover offers extras. Some are genuinely good value and some are things you can do in an evening.
A moving quote usually comes with a menu attached: packing, unpacking, materials, storage, debris removal, cleaning. Some of it earns its cost easily and some of it does not, and companies rarely tell you which is which.
Here is our honest sorting.
Just-In-Time Moving works throughout Washington and Washington County.
Usually worth it
Kitchen packing. The best value item on any menu. The kitchen is the densest, heaviest and most fragile room in a house and accounts for most of what gets broken. It is also the slowest room to pack yourself. Ask what the kitchen alone would cost; people are frequently surprised.
Fragile-only packing. Artwork, mirrors, glass table tops, televisions. These need specific materials and technique, and they are the items where a mistake is expensive.
Disassembly and reassembly, which we include as standard. Where a company charges separately, it is still usually worth it rather than losing an evening to a bed frame.
Debris and haul-away. Genuinely valuable, because the alternative is transporting things you intend to dispose of and paying to store them in a new garage. Book it before the move, not after.
Depends entirely on you
Full packing. Expensive, and the right answer when time is genuinely short, when there is a great deal of fragile material, or when the household cannot manage it. For most people, partial packing is the better trade.
Storage. Necessary when dates do not line up and expensive when it becomes a way of deferring a decision.
Materials. Convenient. You can source boxes free from retail with a little effort, though buy proper tape and new cartons for anything fragile.
Usually not worth paying for
Unpacking. Somebody else putting your things away means you do not know where anything is, and most people redo it. The exception is where mobility or time genuinely prevents it, and then it is worth a great deal.
Wardrobe boxes for a short local move, where clothes can travel on hangers in a car in ten minutes.
Cleaning, if you have the time. Worth buying if you are working to a deadline or a lease standard.

The saving that beats all of them
Moving less. Clearing the garage weeks ahead removes weight, volume and hours at once, and no add-on decision compares with it.
Ask us to price the extras separately so you can see each one rather than a single number. The estimate is free and in writing.
