How we quote

Free, in writing, after a real survey rather than a number over the phone. Local work is hourly; longer moves are quoted on what is actually being moved.

The estimate states its basis, the crew size, a realistic range of hours, and what would change it. Ask what would make the price go up; the answer tells you more than the figure does.

How to check any moving company

Including us. Ten minutes, and it filters out nearly everything you would regret.

Confirm the business is real: a verifiable address, a phone a person answers, and a name matching the paperwork and the vehicle. Be wary when the company quoting and the company on the contract differ.

Ask for the insurance certificate rather than accepting the claim. Legitimate companies produce it without hesitation, because HOAs and buildings request it constantly around here.

For interstate work, the company must be federally registered with a USDOT number you can look up, showing operating authority and complaint history.

Ask about the crew: employees or casual labour, and whether workers' compensation is carried.

Check the payment terms. A modest deposit is normal; a large one is not. Gift cards, prepaid cards and wires to an individual are never legitimate.

Local particulars

Most of this area is governed by community associations, so establish moving hours, gate access, truck size limits and certificate requirements early. That is the commonest cause of a delayed start here.

In summer, take the earliest slot and have cooling running at the destination beforehand.

What we will tell you

If the job is smaller than you think, if a different week is cheaper, or if a long interstate move genuinely suits a national carrier better, we will say so rather than take the booking.

What we need to quote accurately

Both addresses, the stairs at each end, and what is in the garage, shed and loft, which is the most commonly omitted part of any quote and frequently a third of the load.

Then anything heavy or specialist, how far a truck can park from each door, and your date along with how flexible it is. Flexibility is genuinely worth money, because it lets us fit you into a gap rather than a peak.
