What normally happens
Most long-distance moves change hands at least twice
Salt Lake County to St. George is one of the most common long moves in the state. People retire down there, transfer down there, or buy a second home down there, and they book a local mover expecting that mover to do the whole thing.
Usually that is not what happens. Most local movers are not set up to run the full distance, so the shipment gets handed to a line-haul carrier. Your things go onto a trailer with other people’s households, they may be handled more than once en route, and a crew you have never met unloads them at the other end from an inventory sheet.
That arrangement is normal and it is not a scandal. But it is where the delivery windows measured in days come from, it is where most long-distance damage happens, and it is why a damage claim becomes three companies each reasonably pointing at the other two.

Why we can do this and most cannot
We were already at the other end
Just-In-Time Moving started in St. George in 2012 and has been moving Southern Utah families ever since. The Northern Utah operation runs out of Riverton.
So the corridor is not a route we added to the website — it is a road we were already driving in both directions, with our own crews at each end. A competitor in Salt Lake would have to build an operation in Washington County to match it, and a competitor in St. George would have to build one on the Wasatch Front.
It also means that if you are moving down and will need help settling in — storage while closing dates line up, furniture you have decided not to keep — that is the same company too.

What actually happens
A proper survey
For a long move we want to see the house, in person or on video. A phone guess produces a number that changes on the day, which helps nobody.
A firm quote and a date
Long-distance is quoted per job rather than hourly, because the drive is the biggest variable and an hourly rate over that distance would be meaningless.
Pack and load
Full or partial packing if you want it. Everything blanket-wrapped and strapped, because a load that shifts on a four-lane grade is how damage happens.
We drive it
The same truck. It is not transferred, and it does not sit in a consolidation warehouse waiting for a trailer to fill.
Unload and place
The crew who wrapped it carry it in, reassemble the beds and put things where you want them.

How a long move is priced
Per job, not per hour. What moves the number is the volume, the distance, the access at both ends and how much packing you want us to do.
You will not find a corridor rate on this page, because quoting one for a move we have not surveyed would be a guess dressed up as a price. Tell us the two addresses and roughly what is in the house and we will put a real number in front of you.
Long-distance questions
Will my things be on a truck with other people’s?
Not on a corridor move. That is the point of the arrangement — your household travels on our truck, driven by our crew, and is not consolidated with anyone else’s shipment.
How is a delivery date set?
We agree a date when we book the job rather than giving you a spread of days. The reason most long-distance movers quote a window is that the trailer has to be filled around other people’s jobs; that constraint does not apply here.
Do you move out of state as well?
Yes — Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, Wyoming and further. Ask about your specific destination when you get in touch.
What if my new place is not ready?
That is what storage in transit is for. Your household goes into the warehouse and is delivered when you are ready, rather than you paying for a hotel and a second move.

What about moving in winter over the passes?
We run the corridor year-round. If a storm makes the road genuinely unsafe we will tell you early and reschedule rather than push on, because the alternative is worse for everyone. See winter moving.
