Should the Hot Tub Come With You?
It is a heavy, awkward, expensive thing to relocate, and for a lot of people the honest answer is no.
A hot tub is one of the few household items where the moving cost is high enough to make the decision genuinely open. We move spas for a living and we would still rather you weighed it properly than booked and regretted it.
Just-In-Time Moving moves hot tubs across West Valley City and Salt Lake County.
What the move actually involves
A spa is not simply carried. It has to be drained fully and blown out, disconnected electrically by an electrician, taken out of an enclosed back garden which frequently means fence panels, moved on its side on dollies, transported, then set on a prepared pad and reconnected by an electrician at the far end.
That is two trades, a crew, equipment, and preparation at both ends. The cost reflects the whole sequence rather than the carrying.
When moving it makes sense
The spa is recent and in good condition. A quality tub a few years old is worth several times what the move costs.
You have somewhere ready for it. A suitable pad and the electrical supply either present or planned. If the new house needs both installed, add that to the comparison.
Access is reasonable at both ends. Gates that open, no crane required, no retaining walls.
You use it. Obvious, and worth asking honestly. Plenty of spas are moved by households that stopped using them two years earlier.
When it does not
The spa is old or has problems. A tub with a failing heater, a leak, or a cracked shell is not improved by a move, and the repair economics are frequently poor.
Access is a genuine obstacle. A spa that needs a crane over a house costs what it costs, and for an older tub that can exceed its value.
You are leaving it behind anyway in effect. A spa is often a selling point for the property you are leaving, and negotiating it into the sale can be worth more than moving it.

The middle options
Sell it with the house, which is the simplest. Sell it separately, though the buyer must arrange removal and that limits the market. Or leave it and buy at the far end, which is worth pricing against the move for an older tub.
Disposal, if it comes to that
A spa nobody wants still has to leave the property, and that is a hauling job in its own right. Factor it in, because it is the part people omit.
Get real numbers first
Send photographs of the spa, the make and model, and the access at both ends. We will quote it properly and tell you plainly if we think it is not worth moving.
