When you need one piece of furniture moved, there are several kinds of business that will do it, and people usually call whichever they thought of first. They are not interchangeable, and the cheapest depends on what the job actually is.
Just-In-Time Moving handles single-item work across West Valley City and Salt Lake County. Here is a fair account of the alternatives.
Retailer delivery
If you are buying new, this is often the cheapest option and sometimes free above a spend threshold. Take it when it is offered.
The thing to check is what it includes. Many retail deliveries are curbside or threshold only, meaning the item is left at your door or in the first room, not carried upstairs, not assembled, and the packaging not removed. Ask specifically, because the difference matters enormously if you live on a second floor.
Some retailers offer room-of-choice delivery as a paid upgrade, which is usually good value compared with arranging it separately afterwards.
App-based courier
Cheap for a short, simple, ground-floor job with an item two people can carry. Genuinely useful for a marketplace pickup across town.
What you are giving up is predictability. The person who arrives may or may not have blankets, straps or a dolly, may or may not have moved furniture before, and their insurance position for damage to your property is frequently unclear. For a bookcase this is a reasonable trade. For a sofa going up a staircase, or anything valuable, it is not.
Moving company
More per hour, and where it earns the difference is on the difficult parts: stairs, narrow turns, disassembly, heavy or awkward items, and anything where damage to the piece or the property would be expensive.
You are paying for equipment that is actually on the truck, crews who do this daily, licensing and general liability insurance, and a quote that holds.

How to choose
Ground floor to ground floor, light, cheap item, short distance: courier. Buying new from a retailer: their delivery, upgraded if there are stairs. Stairs, weight, awkwardness, value, or anything you would be upset to damage: a moving crew.
Send photographs of the item and both ends and we will tell you honestly which of the three suits your job. If it is not us, we will say so.
