A lot of work here is short-distance, within Washington or across to St. George. Those are the cheapest moves there are, and the way to make them cheaper is an overlap on the keys, doing the boxes yourself by car, and booking a crew for the furniture and appliances only.

Keep candles, records, electronics, batteries, medication and artwork in your own air-conditioned vehicle rather than the truck.

What we will tell you honestly

If your job is smaller than you think, or a different week would be meaningfully cheaper, or a long interstate move genuinely suits a national carrier better than us, we will say so rather than take the booking.

Before the day

Photograph anything valuable with its condition and serial numbers, and photograph anything already damaged or loose at the joints, which protects both sides. Keep documents, cash, jewellery and medication with you rather than on any truck, since those are excluded from cover essentially everywhere.

If you packed the boxes yourself, number them and keep a list. Nobody can establish what went into a sealed box or how, which is why owner-packed contents are treated differently from anything a crew packed.
