Three ways people use us

Full packing. The whole house, usually the day before the move. Right when time is genuinely short, when there is a lot of fragile material, or when the job is beyond what the household can manage.

Partial packing. The most common arrangement and usually the sensible one. You do clothing, books and general contents over several weeks; we do the kitchen and anything fragile.

If you hand over one room, make it the kitchen. It is the densest, heaviest and most fragile room in a house and accounts for most of what gets broken.

Specialist items only. Artwork, mirrors, glass table tops, televisions, instruments.

What we bring and what it costs

Boxes, tape, paper and specialist cartons including wardrobe boxes and picture and mirror cartons.

Charged for labour and materials, both stated separately in the estimate, which is free and in writing.

Ask what the kitchen alone would cost. People are frequently surprised how modest it is against the risk it removes.

The liability point worth knowing

Where a moving company packs a box, it is accountable for how it was packed as well as how it was carried. Where you pack and seal it, nobody can establish what went in or how, which is why owner-packed boxes are commonly treated differently and often excluded from cover.

That is a genuine evidentiary limit rather than a technicality, and it is a real argument for having fragile items packed professionally.

If you pack yourself, number every box, keep a list, and photograph anything valuable.

Local particulars

In summer we will set aside anything that should not travel in a hot truck rather than boxing it: candles, records, electronics, batteries, medication, cosmetics and artwork. Those belong in your air-conditioned vehicle.

Everything fabric goes in clean and completely dry, which matters especially if anything is going into storage.

What we will not pack

Fuel, propane, chemicals, aerosols in quantity, ammunition or anything perishable. Documents, cash, jewellery and medication should stay with you.

How to prepare for a packing crew

Gather everything you want kept out into one clearly marked room before we arrive and tell us where it is. Packing a keep-out item by accident is the commonest small disaster on a packing day.

Deal with the hazardous items a week ahead rather than the morning, and do your sorting and disposal before the packing rather than during, since packing something you intend to discard costs three times over.
