What actually gets damaged

The list is short and consistent.

Somebody getting hurt on your property. An uninsured operator injured carrying a treadmill out of your basement is a situation you do not want to be in, and it is a genuine reason to check rather than a hypothetical.

What we do about it

Protect the route before carrying starts, with floor runners and doorframe protection on anything tight, rather than after a mark appears.

Use proper equipment. Dollies, straps and stair equipment for anything heavy, rather than manhandling it.

Work at the pace the item needs. Speed on a clear-out is where damage happens, and a crew hurrying down basement stairs with a weight bench is the scenario to avoid.

What you can do

Photograph the route beforehand if anything about it concerns you. Clear it, and tell us about anything fragile along it.

Tell us if there is a surface you are particularly worried about, such as new flooring or original tile, and we will take extra care there.

Raise anything on the day while the crew is present rather than afterwards.
