What Professional Packers Will and Will Not Pack
There is a defined list, and knowing it in advance means nothing is discovered on the morning.

Just-In-Time Moving packs throughout Washington and Washington County. We are licensed in Utah and carry general liability insurance.
What will not be packed or transported
Anything flammable or combustible. Petrol, propane, lighter fluid, kerosene, camping fuel, and any powered equipment with fuel in it, which needs draining first.
Chemicals. Solvents, thinners, pesticides, weedkiller, pool chemicals, fertiliser and cleaning products in quantity. Washington County runs household hazardous waste collection for these.
Pressurised containers. Propane tanks of any size, oxygen, fire extinguishers, and aerosols in quantity.
Ammunition and explosives, including fireworks.
Perishable food, and opened pantry items on a long move.
Plants, on a long move, which do not survive a trailer and can face agricultural restrictions across state lines.
Fully dried latex paint is often acceptable as ordinary waste once solid, which is worth knowing.
What should not be packed, for your sake
Different category, and the crew will set these aside rather than boxing them.
Cash, documents, deeds, passports, jewellery, medication and anything irreplaceable. These are excluded from cover essentially universally, and they belong with you.
In a St. George-area summer, add the heat list: candles, vinyl records, electronics and anything with a battery, artwork, cosmetics and anything with a storage temperature. A closed truck here gets considerably hotter than the air outside.
Things worth agreeing in advance
Whether drawers stay full. Depends on the furniture; ask rather than assume.
Whether you want the packing done in one day or across several.
What you want kept out, which should be gathered into one room before the crew arrives so nothing is packed by accident. This is the commonest small disaster on a packing day.
Anything of unusual value, which may need declaring specifically to be covered at all.

How to prepare
Deal with the hazardous items a week ahead rather than the morning. Sort and dispose before packing, since packing things you intend to discard costs three times over.
Put the keep-out items in one clearly marked place, and tell the crew where it is.
What to expect on the day
A packing crew works room by room and moves faster than you would expect. Boxes are filled to the top, voids packed out, and each is labelled by destination room and numbered as it is sealed.
Be available for questions rather than helping, since the crew works to a pattern and a second set of hands in the same room is usually slower. Point out anything fragile or valuable before they start rather than as they reach it.
