Reducing what it costs

The largest lever is moving less. Clearing the garage weeks ahead removes weight, volume and hours at once, and anything unwanted costs three times over: packing it, carrying it, and disposing of it from the new house.

After that, be completely packed before the crew arrives, since paid time spent waiting is the commonest waste on any job. Where you are moving locally, ask for a few days of overlap on the keys, move the boxes yourself by car across that period, and book a crew for the furniture and appliances only.
