What Can Get Damaged Moving a Hot Tub
The tub is usually the least fragile thing involved. Your fence, your landscaping and your neighbour's property are not.
Spa moves have an unusual risk profile. Most of the exposure is outdoors, most of it is to things other than the item being moved, and some of it belongs to somebody who is not you.
Just-In-Time Moving moves spas across Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County. We are licensed in Utah and carry general liability insurance.
What is actually at risk
The gate and the fence. The single most common casualty, because the gate is usually the tightest point and something frequently has to come off. Taking a gate off its hinges is routine and reversible. Forcing a tub through a gap it does not fit is neither.
Landscaping. Beds, edging, irrigation lines and anything planted along a side path. Wheels and several hundred pounds do not respect a border, and irrigation in particular sits just under the surface where nobody can see it.
Decking and paving. Point loads on decking boards, and paving that lifts or cracks under a wheel carrying concentrated weight.
The neighbour's property. Worth naming separately. On a narrow side return, the fence on the other side is theirs, and so is anything overhanging. Damage there is a conversation you would rather not be having.
The tub. Shell and cabinet mark, and a spa levered against its cabinet can suffer, but honestly this is the least likely item on the list.
Why insurance matters here specifically
General liability covers damage caused in the course of the work, and this is a job where the likely damage is to fixed property rather than to the goods. Ask to see it, and ask what applies to a fence, a deck or a neighbour's boundary.
Injury is the other exposure. A tub with momentum on a slope is genuinely dangerous, which makes an uninsured operator on your property a real concern rather than a hypothetical.
What reduces it
Accurate measurements, so nothing is forced. Photographs beforehand, so the route is understood rather than discovered. A decision made in advance about whether a gate or deck section can come off, and by whom.
And clearing the route yourself: move planters, cut back growth, and tell us what is buried where.
