What a Hot Tub Move Is Priced On in Salt Lake City

Hot tubs are the clearest example of a job where the object barely matters. A spa on a level route with wide clearance is a straightforward morning. The same spa behind a narrow gate on a slope is a different job entirely.

What sets the figure

The narrowest point of the route. The single biggest factor. A side gate is the usual constraint, generally because the fence went in after the tub did. If clearance is tight, the job changes category, and if there is no route at all it does not happen without removing something.

Slope and surface. A spa on its side on a dolly on a downhill run carries real momentum. Gravel, grass or a long path between the tub and where a truck can park all add substantially.

Whether a deck or fence has to come apart. Often the difference between impossible and simple, and it is work either way.

Size class. A small round tub, a large rectangular spa and a swim spa are three different propositions, and describing yours by how many it seats tells us very little. Dimensions are what matter.

Both ends. People measure the origin and forget the destination, which is half the job.

What is not in our figure but is in your cost

An electrician to disconnect and reconnect a hard-wired spa, at both ends. That is separate work and it needs arranging.

A base at the destination if one does not exist. A pad, a deck rated to carry it, or purpose-made panels, finished and cured before the tub arrives.

How to reduce it

Drain it fully a day ahead, including pipework, pump and heater. A partly drained tub is weight in unpredictable places and a mess.

Clear the route, cut back anything that has grown over it, and move obstructions.

Measure and send photographs of the tub, the gate, the tightest point and the destination, which gets you a real figure rather than a cautious one.

That last point is worth dwelling on. Where a company cannot see the route, the sensible thing for them to do is quote for the harder version, because they have to cover the possibility that the gate is two inches narrower than described. Five minutes of photographs removes that uncertainty and the padding that comes with it. It is the rare case where giving a company more information reliably gets you a lower number rather than a higher one.
