The short version
Local moves are billed hourly with a crew size agreed up front. Tell us what you're moving and we'll quote it.
Long-distance and commercial jobs are quoted per job instead — one figure covering the crew, the load, the drive and the unload.
We do not publish an hourly rate on this page. Crew size, access and how much there is change it enough that a headline number would mislead more people than it helped.
Why there is no price list
Two identical houses are not two identical moves
A three-bedroom in Washington Fields with a level driveway and a wide front door, and a three-bedroom on the third floor of a Cedar City walk-up with no lift, contain roughly the same furniture. One of them takes half a day. The other takes most of one, with a bigger crew.
That is why the estimate asks about access rather than just bedroom count, and why a company quoting you a firm price over the phone in thirty seconds without asking either question is guessing. That guess gets corrected on the day, and it is never corrected downwards.
What moves the number
Six things that actually change the price
- How much there is. Bedrooms are the shorthand, but the garage, shed and loft are what people forget — often a third of the load.
- Access at both ends. Stairs, lifts, gates, and how far the carry is from the door to where a truck can legally park.
- Packing. Whether you do it, we do it, or we do the kitchen and the glass and you do the rest.
- Specialty items. A piano, a gun safe, a hot tub or a pool table is quoted separately — different equipment, bigger crew.
- Distance. Within the valley this barely matters. Out to Kanab, Escalante or Beaver it commits the crew for the day, and that shows in the quote up front.
- When. Month-ends, first weekends and the August Cedar City turnover are the busiest slots in this market.

One figure for the whole thing. Never an hourly rate, because most of the clock is a truck on the interstate.

Quoted once we have seen the site or know exactly what the item is and what the route out looks like.
Included, not extra
Things some companies bill for and we do not
- Moving blankets and shrink wrap for your furniture
- Floor runners and door-jamb protection at both ends
- Dollies, straps, ramps and the equipment to do the job properly
- Standard disassembly and reassembly — beds, tables, flat-pack
- Placing things in the room you want them, rather than inside the front door
- The written estimate itself, and the walkthrough that produces it
Genuine extras
And the things that are quoted on top
Packing materials, if we are supplying boxes. Specialty items — pianos, safes, hot tubs, pool tables. Storage between closings. Junk removal or a donation run. Long-carry situations where the truck genuinely cannot get near the property.
All of those appear on the written estimate before you agree to anything. The rule we work to is simple: if it will be on the invoice, it was on the estimate. If something changes on the day, you hear about it before the work happens rather than afterwards.

Why will you not put a rate on the website?
Local moves are billed hourly with a crew size agreed up front. Tell us what you're moving and we'll quote it.
A single headline rate on a page cannot account for crew size, access or how much there is, and the version people remember is always the low one. We would rather give you a number for your move than a number for an imaginary one.
Can you beat a quote I have been given?
Send it over and we will tell you honestly. Sometimes we can. Sometimes the other quote is lower because it is a smaller crew than the job needs, which costs more by the end of the day. Comparing crew size and what is included matters more than comparing the headline.
How do I keep the cost down?
Move less. Clearing the garage before moving day is the single most effective thing — see junk removal. After that: pack yourself if you have the time, avoid month-end if your dates are flexible, and have everything boxed and ready before the crew arrives.
Do you charge for travel time?
Within the St. George area it is not a separate line. For jobs a long way out — Kanab, Escalante, Beaver — the crew and truck are committed for the day, and that is reflected in the estimate you see before booking.
