Family Owned Moving Company
St. George, Utah
We are the local option, so read this knowing that. There are jobs where the other answer is better.
People weighing a small local company against a large national one are usually told by each that it is the obvious choice. Here is a fair account, written by a local company, including the cases where we are not what you need.
Just-In-Time Moving is locally owned and works throughout St. George and Washington County.
Where a local company is genuinely better
Local moves. This is most of what we do and it is what a local operation is built for. Short distances, hourly work, crews who know the area, and no advantage whatsoever to a national network.
Small and awkward jobs. A single item, a partial move, a few hours of labour, an in-house shift. Larger operations frequently will not take these or price them as though they were full moves.
Short notice. A local company can often fit you in.
Talking to a decision-maker. You get the person who can actually change something rather than a call centre.
Accountability. A local business that damages your house in a town this size hears about it. That is a real incentive.
Where a national van line is genuinely better
Long interstate moves, particularly across several states. A national carrier has the network, the scheduling and the infrastructure for it. This is what they are built for and it is not a close call.
Very large households, where the volume needs equipment and depots.
Corporate relocations, where an employer is paying and requires particular contracts, insurance levels and reporting.
Long-term storage in transit as part of a single arrangement.
Anywhere a single company handling the whole journey matters to you. A local company doing a long-distance move may hand off to a partner carrier, and it is fair to ask directly whether that will happen.
The question that actually matters
Not size. Whether the company doing the work is licensed, insured, gave you a written estimate after a real assessment, and will put its answers in writing.
A poor national brand and a poor local operator both exist. So do good ones of each.

What we will tell you
If your move is genuinely better suited to a national carrier, we will say so rather than take the booking. That is a shorter conversation than the alternative and it costs us less than a job we should not have accepted.

What's Included
Moving Company — FAQ
When is a local company the better choice?
Local moves, small or awkward jobs like a single item or a few hours of labour, short notice, and any situation where talking to a decision-maker rather than a call centre matters. A national network offers no advantage on a short move.
When is a national van line better?
Long interstate moves across several states, very large households, corporate relocations with particular contract and insurance requirements, and arrangements involving long-term storage in transit as part of one contract.
What should I ask either of them?
Whether they are licensed and insured, whether the estimate followed a real assessment and is in writing, and specifically whether the company you hire will do the work or hand off to a partner carrier.
