Moving Into a Second or Part-Time Home
A house you occupy part of the year is a different proposition from one you live in, and it is furnished differently.

A good number of homes here are not somebody's only home. People buy in St. George for the winters, for eventual retirement, or as somewhere family gathers, and they occupy it for part of the year.
Setting up a house like that raises questions an ordinary move does not.
Just-In-Time Moving is locally owned and works throughout St. George and Washington County.
Furnish it here, or bring things?
The usual dilemma, and the honest answer depends on distance and quantity.
Moving a partial household several states is expensive, priced on weight and volume, and for ordinary furniture the freight can approach what buying locally would cost. For genuinely good furniture, or anything with meaning attached, moving it is clearly right.
A common and sensible middle course: buy the bulky basics here, and bring the specific things that matter. That keeps the shipment small and the house personal.
Think about what is left standing empty
The part people underestimate. A house closed up for months in this climate is a particular set of conditions.
Leather and some upholstery suffer in prolonged dryness. Wooden furniture and instruments respond to it as well. Anything left near a window will fade, and here that happens faster than people expect, so window coverings matter more than they might elsewhere.
Do not leave anything liquid, perishable or aerosol in a house that will be unattended through a summer.
Practical arrangements for an absent owner
Decide who has access and who to call. If you are not present when furniture is delivered, we can work to written instructions, and a floor plan with placements marked is worth more than a phone call from another state.
Have the utilities and cooling sorted before anything arrives. An unfurnished house that has been closed through a summer is extremely hot inside, and unloading into it is punishing.

Insurance is a real question
Worth raising with your insurer specifically. A property that is unoccupied for extended periods is treated differently by many policies, and the cover you assume you have may be conditional. Ask before rather than after.
Deliveries and staged furnishing
Second homes are often furnished gradually over several trips rather than in one move. We handle single deliveries, storage collections and part-loads, and can meet a shipment you are not here for.
