Tipping

It is customary and it is not obligatory, and nobody will treat you differently for not doing it. If the day went well and you want to, people appreciate it. If money is tight, which it often is around a move, that is entirely fine and it is not something to feel awkward about.

Not hovering. Being reachable is helpful. Watching each item being carried is not, and it makes a physically demanding job harder.

Food

Not expected. If it is a long day and you want to offer something, ask first rather than ordering, since dietary requirements and timing vary and a crew mid-load may prefer to keep going.

The thing worth doing at the end

If the crew did a good job, say so, to them. It is worth more than most people realise in a trade where the feedback people receive is overwhelmingly the negative kind.

And if you were happy, telling the company which crew it was means the right people hear about it.

One practical note about the end of the day, since it is the moment everybody finds slightly awkward. Do the final walkthrough before anyone starts leaving rather than after, while the whole crew is still there and the truck is still accessible. Check the truck is empty, then every room, then the garage. It takes five minutes, it is easier to resolve anything while people are present, and it gives the day a clear ending rather than a vague one where nobody is sure whether it is finished.
