Where a safe lives changes the job more than what it weighs. In the older parts of the valley it is usually in a basement, at the bottom of a narrow staircase. The driveway is the job

A safe rolls well on a flat concrete floor. What it does not do well is change level, and the transition from garage floor to driveway, and then down a driveway with any slope to it, is where control matters.

A dense object with a high centre of mass on a decline is not something a crew can simply stop once it has momentum. So tell us about the slope. A steep driveway is not a problem when it is known about and planned for; it is a problem when it is discovered with the safe already on the dolly.

The threshold between garage and driveway is worth mentioning too, along with anything the route crosses: a decorative concrete strip, pavers, a drain grate. Those are the places a wheel catches.

Concrete, bolts and what is underneath

If the safe is bolted to the slab, say so when you book. Removing anchors is straightforward when it is expected and an unwelcome surprise when it is not, and it needs the right tools on the truck.

The same applies at the far end. If it is being bolted down in the new place, plan it as part of the job rather than discussing it with the safe standing in the middle of a garage.

Inside the house, protecting the route is part of the work rather than an afterthought. Concentrated weight is harder on tile than most people expect, and floor runners and proper equipment go down before the safe moves at all.

Empty it completely. It removes real weight, it stops contents shifting inside something that is already top-heavy, and it means the contents are never our responsibility in transit.

Find the weight, or the make and model so we can look it up. Manufacturer weights vary widely between models that look similar, and it decides the crew and equipment.

Then photographs: the safe where it stands, the route out, and the driveway. Those three tell us more than a paragraph of description.
