A large proportion of the furniture in an average home is flat-pack: particleboard or MDF panels held together with cam locks, dowels and screws into engineered board.
It is perfectly good furniture and it was designed to be assembled once. That fact governs what happens when you move.

Why it does not travel well
The fittings grip into engineered board rather than into solid timber. Once a cam lock or a screw has been undone, the material around it has been compressed and cut, and it does not grip as well the second time.
So a piece dismantled and rebuilt is frequently looser than it was, sometimes noticeably, and occasionally it will not go back together squarely at all.
Moving it assembled has its own problem: the joints rely on the whole structure being square, and carrying a tall unit horizontally puts load through joints that were never meant to carry it. Panels can also flex enough to pull a fitting out.
The practical decision
If it fits through the doors assembled, move it assembled, emptied, carried upright, and not laid flat if you can avoid it.
If it does not fit, be realistic. Dismantling may be the only option, and the piece may not survive it well. For an inexpensive item, weigh that against replacing it, particularly on a long move where you are paying freight by weight and volume.
Wall-mounted units come off the wall regardless, and the fixings should be taken out properly rather than levered.
How liability works here
Worth understanding without it sounding like an excuse.
A properly handled piece can still fail because of what it is, and that is different from damage caused by handling. A crew that carries a flat-pack wardrobe correctly and finds a joint has opened has not done anything wrong.
This is why condition matters and why we photograph before lifting. If a piece is already loose or has been rebuilt before, say so, and expect it to be treated as fragile.
Some manufacturers' warranties do not cover a product after it has been dismantled and reassembled. Worth checking on anything recent.
What actually helps
Empty every drawer and shelf. Tape doors and drawers closed. Carry upright. Keep the original instructions if you have them, and bag fittings taped to the piece.
