New construction closes when it closes, which is rarely the date on the contract.
Anyone who has bought a newly built house knows the pattern: a closing date that is confident in spring, less confident in summer, and settled about a fortnight before it happens. Meanwhile you have a lease ending or a house sold, and a move to arrange around a date nobody will commit to.
Just-In-Time Moving works throughout Lehi and Utah County, and this situation is routine here.
Book it as provisional and say so
The most useful thing you can do. There is a real difference between a fixed date and an expected one, and we would much rather plan around the second than be surprised by it.
Tell us it is a new build, tell us the expected date, and tell us how confident you actually are. Then keep us informed as it firms up or slips. A change with two weeks' notice is administration. The same change with a day's notice is a problem for both of us.
If you have flexibility on the day of the week, say so, because that is often what makes a late reschedule workable.
Plan for the gap you might have
The scenario worth preparing for is the one where your old place ends before the new one is ready. It happens often enough with new construction that it is worth having an answer before you need one.
Think it through in advance: where your belongings would go, where you would stay, and for how long. Having considered it costs nothing. Improvising it with a truck loaded is expensive and stressful.
Raise it with us early even if you expect it not to happen, because a move planned with a contingency is straightforward and one where the contingency appears on the day is not.
Before you move in
Confirm utilities are on, which on a new build does not happen automatically.
Do your own walkthrough and photograph everything before the truck arrives, because on a new house every mark is traceable and you do not want moving damage and construction defects becoming the same conversation.
Ask the builder whether the driveway is cured enough for a loaded truck.
If there is an outstanding punch list, better to have it finished before your furniture is in the way.

The ordinary business
The estimate is free, in writing, and follows questions about stairs, parking, access and heavy items. Standard furniture disassembly and reassembly is included.
Just-In-Time Moving is licensed in Utah and carries general liability insurance, seven days a week including evenings, which is often what makes a moved date workable.

Movers — FAQ
My closing date is not confirmed. Can I book?
Yes, and say it is provisional and how confident you are. A move booked as provisional is planned differently from a fixed one. Keep us updated as it firms up, because a change with notice is administration and one the day before is a problem.
What if the house is not ready when my lease ends?
Think it through before you need to: where belongings would go, where you would stay, and for how long. Raise it with us early even if you expect it not to happen. A planned contingency is straightforward; one appearing on the day is not.
What should I check before moving into a new build?
That utilities are actually on, that the driveway is cured enough for a loaded truck, and that any outstanding punch list work is done. Also photograph everything before the truck arrives.
