A long-distance move has more ways to go wrong than a local one, and almost all of them come down to the same thing: too many parties involved and no single person who owns the outcome. A load gets transferred, a delivery window slips, and every time you call you get someone who was not there when your things were packed.

Leaving St. George

Almost everything out of here starts on Interstate 15, and which direction you turn shapes the job. North toward Cedar City, Provo and the Wasatch Front is one kind of trip. South toward Las Vegas and on into Arizona, California or further is another. Either way, the route is not the hard part. The hard part is sequencing: what gets loaded when, what you need to be able to reach on the first night, and what happens if you cannot take possession at the other end on the day you planned.

We would rather have that conversation before the truck is loaded than improvise it on the road. If there is a gap between your move-out and your move-in, say so early. It changes how the load is built.

How a long-distance move gets planned

It starts with a proper survey of what you actually own, not a guess over the phone. That produces a written estimate, and it produces something more useful: a real inventory, so that if a box does not appear at the other end, there is a record of it having gone on.

Everything is padded and wrapped before it goes in the truck rather than after it is stacked. On a local move a scuff is annoying. On a load that is going to spend a day or more shifting on a highway, wrapping is the difference between furniture arriving in the condition it left in and furniture arriving looking like it has been on a highway.

At the far end the crew unloads, places furniture in the rooms you want it in, and reassembles what was taken apart. You should not be sleeping on a mattress on the floor because the bed frame went back together wrong.

We will not promise a delivery date we cannot stand behind, and we would rather give you a realistic window and hit it than a flattering one and miss it. If your timing is tight, tell us how tight and we will tell you honestly whether it works.
