Think about where it goes
Direct sun is hard on a spa. Covers take the worst of it, and a cover left fully exposed degrades noticeably faster than one that gets shade for part of the day. Shells and cabinets fare better but not indefinitely.
So if there is a choice of position, the shaded side, or a spot under a pergola or an overhang, is worth choosing deliberately. It is not always possible and it is worth asking the question before the tub is set down rather than afterwards.
The practical requirements are the same as anywhere. A level, solid, continuous base: a concrete pad, a deck built to carry it, or purpose-made panels. Grass, soil and gravel are not bases. If a pad is being poured, it must be finished and cured before the tub arrives, and that timeline is longer than people plan for.
Leave access to the equipment bay. Spas get pushed tight into a corner and then need servicing from the side that is now against a wall.
Getting it out
Drain it fully at least a day ahead, and fully means the pipework, pump and heater rather than just the shell. A tub still emptying when the crew arrives is a mess on the driveway and weight in unpredictable places.
Measure the narrowest point of the entire route and the tub itself, and give us actual numbers. The side gate is the usual obstruction, generally because the fence went in after the spa did. Air conditioning units, downspouts and landscaping that has grown since installation are the others.
If the tub sits inside a deck surround, find out whether a section lifts. That often turns an impossible job into a simple one.
Have the power disconnected properly. A hard-wired spa needs an electrician at the panel, at both addresses, arranged when you book rather than on the day.
