What labor-only actually covers

Three shapes come up most often.

Loading. Your rental truck or container arrives, we load it, and you drive. This is where a crew earns its keep, because loading is the part of a self-move that determines whether anything arrives damaged. A truck packed by people who do it daily is packed tight, high, and in tiers, which stops the load shifting on the road. A truck packed by three friends has gaps, and gaps are what turn a drive into a repair bill.

Unloading. The reverse, at the far end, and the more common request. People are usually confident about loading and thoroughly out of energy by the time they arrive.

Both, with your own vehicle. Some people book us at each end of a move they are driving themselves.

The crew brings moving pads, stretch wrap, floor runners and dollies as standard, the same as any other job. Furniture gets wrapped before it goes on your truck, not after it is stacked.

What to have sorted before we arrive

Labor-only is charged for the crew's time, so preparation converts directly into a shorter job. Have everything boxed, taped and closed before the crew arrives. A half-packed room is the single most expensive thing you can present to a labor-only crew, because they will end up waiting or packing.

Then think about where the truck or container sits. On the narrower central streets, and in the older neighborhoods where there is no driveway, that is a real decision rather than a formality, and it decides how far every item travels. If your street has permit parking or is genuinely tight, say so when you book.

One honest caution. If you have a piano, a gun safe, a hot tub or anything similar, mention it when you book rather than adding it on the day. Those need particular equipment and a particular crew size, and a labor-only crew sized for boxes and furniture is not automatically the right crew for a safe.
