Why a safe is not a furniture job

Three things separate a safe from heavy furniture. It is dense rather than bulky, so all of that weight sits in a small footprint and concentrates hard on whatever is underneath it. It has almost nothing to grip. And it is usually top-heavy once the door is on, particularly with the door on the swing side, which is why safes tip.
