There is a quick way to judge a commercial mover: ask what they need from you before the day. A vague answer means the planning will happen during your move.

What we should be asking you for
A destination layout. Not a formal drawing necessarily. A sketch of the new space with names, departments or numbers on it, specific enough that a crew can place things without asking.
A numbering or naming scheme. The point is that every item and every space has the same identifier. If a desk is going to position 14, the desk is marked 14 and the floor plan says 14. That sounds obvious and it is the thing that most often is not done.
An inventory of anything unusual. Safes, large format printers, server racks, anything anchored, plumbed or calibrated. Those change the crew and the equipment and some need specialist disconnection that is not moving work.
The building constraints at both ends. Lift dimensions and whether it books, dock or door access, permitted hours, after-hours access arrangements, and whether a certificate of insurance is required.
Who decides on the night, with a number that works at that hour.
Labelling by destination, always
The single rule that matters most, and the one most often got backwards.
Label with where something is going, never where it came from. A desk marked with its origin has to be looked up by somebody who is currently holding it. A desk marked with its destination gets carried once and placed.
Same for boxes, same for workstation panels, same for crates.
Colour by floor or department if the space is large. It is faster to read than text at a distance.

A move that finishes when it was supposed to, and a first morning where people sit down and work rather than hunting for their monitor.
It is also the thing that makes a phased or partial move possible at all. If you are moving in stages, or into a space where part of the fit-out is unfinished, a numbering scheme is what lets a crew place the half that can be placed and stage the rest coherently rather than piling it in whatever room is empty. Without one, a phased move produces two floors of unidentifiable furniture and somebody spending a week working out which panel belongs where.
