How to check any moving company
Including us. These take about ten minutes.
Verify the business is real: a verifiable address, a phone answered by a person, and a name that matches the paperwork and the vehicle. Be wary if the company quoting and the company on the contract differ.
Ask for the insurance certificate rather than accepting the claim. Any legitimate company produces it without hesitation.
For interstate work, the company must be federally registered with a USDOT number you can look up, which shows operating authority and complaint history.
Ask about the crew: employees or casual labour, and whether workers' compensation is carried.
Watch the payment terms. A large deposit up front is not normal. Gift cards, prepaid cards and wires to an individual are never legitimate.
What we will tell you
If your job does not need us, or needs less of us than you expected, we will say so. If a long interstate move genuinely suits a national carrier better, we will say that rather than take the booking.
