Most winter moves here go ahead exactly as planned. Occasionally the weather makes that a bad idea, and the time to work out how that decision gets made is when you book, not at seven in the morning with a truck outside.
Just-In-Time Moving works throughout Cedar City and Iron County.
When a move should not proceed
Our view, stated plainly.
When the route cannot be made safe. Ice that will not take treatment, or a slope where a loaded dolly cannot be controlled. Steps are the deciding factor more often than the driveway.
When the truck cannot travel safely, including a pass closed or conditions on the I-15 corridor that make a loaded vehicle a bad idea.
When a rural approach is genuinely impassable.
When active heavy snow means the load gets wet and cannot be protected, which affects your belongings rather than our convenience.
Cold alone is not a reason. Crews work in cold. It is ice, visibility and access that stop a job.
Partial days are often the answer
It is rarely all or nothing. Frequently the sensible outcome is to load today and deliver tomorrow, or to do the flat-ground work and leave the difficult items for better conditions.
That is usually better than either forcing it or losing the whole day, and it is worth asking about rather than assuming the choice is binary.
Ask these questions when booking
What happens if the weather is bad on the day. Who decides, and when. Whether there is a charge if the job is postponed, and whether a deposit is affected. How quickly it can be rescheduled, which matters most if you have a lease ending or a closing date.
Get the answers before you book. A company that has not thought about it in this town has told you something.

Protect yourself in the planning
Do not schedule a winter move for the last possible day. Build a day or two of slack against a lease end or a closing, because that slack is what turns a weather delay from a crisis into an inconvenience.
Where you have real flexibility, say so, and we can watch the forecast and move you a day either way.
If it does get postponed
Keep the essentials box with you rather than loaded. Leave the beds until last when packing, so a postponed move still has somewhere to sleep.
Confirm the new date in writing.
