Ask these before agreeing
What it costs per week or month, and whether there is a minimum period.
Whether there are handling charges for putting goods in and taking them out, which are separate from storage and are the part people miss.
How much notice is needed for delivery, which is frequently several days rather than a phone call on the morning.
Whether your goods are covered while stored, and by whom. Valuation during transit does not automatically extend through storage, and the facility's own insurance covers its building rather than your contents. This is the single most important question here.
Whether you can access anything. Usually not, or not easily, so plan for that.
Conditions matter in this region
An unheated facility here goes below freezing repeatedly through winter and gets hot in summer.
That affects electronics, batteries, instruments, artwork, candles, records and anything liquid. Over a week it rarely matters; over three months it does.
Ask specifically whether storage is climate controlled, and price that against what would be damaged.
Reduce what goes in
Storage is priced by volume and time, so the same logic as the move applies. Anything you were unsure about is worth deciding now rather than paying to store and then dispose of.
