Clothing takes up more space than anything else in a typical household and weighs relatively little, which makes it the easiest place to save volume and the easiest place to waste it.
Just-In-Time Moving packs and moves across St. George and Washington County.
Sort before you pack, properly
Clothing is where the sorting genuinely pays. Every garment you move costs space in a box, space on a truck and space in the next wardrobe.
Do it by category rather than by wardrobe. Bring everything of one kind together and look at the total, which is always more than expected because it lives in four places.
Anything unworn for a couple of years, anything that does not fit, and anything you are keeping because it was expensive is worth deciding on now rather than transporting.
Wardrobe boxes for what hangs
Worth it for suits, dresses, coats and anything that would need pressing afterwards. Garments transfer straight from the rail to the box on their hangers and back again, which takes minutes.
Do not overload them. They are tall, and a full one is heavier and less stable than it looks.
For a small quantity, a cheaper approach works: keep garments on hangers, slide a bin bag up over them from below and tie it at the hook. It is not elegant and it is effective.
Everything else
Folded clothing goes in ordinary boxes or, better, in suitcases and holdalls you already own and would otherwise be moving empty.
Vacuum bags are excellent for bedding, coats and out-of-season clothing, and reduce volume dramatically. Two cautions: do not use them for anything with structure or a delicate weave, which they crush permanently, and do not use them to make a box heavier than it should be.
Chest of drawers contents can frequently stay in the drawers if the piece is sturdy and the drawers are secured. Ask rather than assuming; it depends on the furniture.

Local particulars
Everything must go in clean and completely dry, which matters if anything will be stored. Damp fabric in a closed box is a problem within weeks.
Keep out one week of clothing for each person, in a bag that travels with you, plus anything needed for work.
At the far end
Hang the wardrobe boxes first. It takes ten minutes, it empties several large boxes immediately, and it means you are not living out of cartons.
