Commercial Movers

A food business is among the hardest commercial moves there is. The equipment is heavy and awkward, much of it is connected to gas, water or extraction, the stock will not wait, and you cannot open until somebody with authority says you can.

Just-In-Time Moving works throughout St. George and Washington County.

The permits decide your timetable

Start here, because everything else depends on it. A new premises needs the appropriate health department approval and inspection before you can trade, and the timing of that is not within your control.

Begin the process early and get the inspection scheduled before you plan the move, not after. Businesses routinely have a fully fitted kitchen sitting idle waiting for a sign-off they applied for too late.

The same applies to any licensing tied to the address.

Trades before movers

Be clear about the boundary. We move equipment. We do not disconnect or connect gas, water, drainage or extraction.

Gas appliances need a qualified engineer at both ends. Plumbing likewise. Extraction and fire suppression systems generally need specialist attention and may need certification before you can operate.

Book those trades first, because their availability is the constraint, and sequence the move around them rather than hoping they can fit around the truck.

Run the stock down

Perishables cannot be moved in any practical sense, and certainly not in a St. George summer. Plan the menu down over the final week and order accordingly.

Anything refrigerated or frozen that must transfer needs a genuine cold chain plan with temperature control, not a cool box and optimism. If in doubt, do not move it. The cost of replacing stock is far less than the cost of a food safety problem.

Defrost and clean freezers and refrigeration units a full day ahead. They need it, and they travel better empty and dry.

The equipment itself

Tell us what you have. Walk-in units, ranges, fryers, dough mixers and cold rooms are heavy and frequently harder to remove than they were to install, particularly where a kitchen was fitted around them.

Doorways, corners and floor protection all matter. Say if anything must be kept upright.

Reopening

Leave slack between the move and the first service. Equipment needs commissioning and testing, refrigeration needs time to come to temperature and be verified, and staff need a run-through in an unfamiliar kitchen.

We work overnight and around your trading. The estimate is free and in writing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I arrange first?

Health department approval and inspection for the new premises, plus any licensing tied to the address. That timing is not within your control, and businesses routinely have a fitted kitchen sitting idle waiting for a sign-off applied for too late.

Can you disconnect the gas and plumbing?

No. We move equipment; we do not connect or disconnect gas, water, drainage or extraction. Those need qualified trades at both ends, and their availability is usually the scheduling constraint the move has to work around.

What about stock and refrigeration?

Run perishables down over the final week rather than trying to move them, particularly in summer. Anything that must transfer needs a genuine temperature-controlled plan. Defrost and clean refrigeration a full day ahead; it travels better empty and dry.
