Most hot tub moves treat the spa as cargo. When you are relocating a working tub that you intend to keep using, it is worth planning the whole sequence rather than only the move, because the order things happen in determines how long you are without it.

The sequence, in order

Prepare the destination first. This is the step people leave until after the move and it is the one that causes the delay. The base needs to exist, be level and be cured before the tub arrives. A concrete pad, a deck built to carry it, or purpose-made panels. Grass, soil and gravel are not bases.

The electrical supply needs to reach where the tub is going, which is not necessarily where the old one was relative to the panel. Have an electrician confirm that before the move rather than after.

Then drain, at least a day ahead. Fully, meaning the pipework, pump and heater rather than just the shell. In cold weather do not leave a drained tub sitting disconnected for days, because water in the lines can freeze and damage a working spa before it is loaded.

Then disconnect. A hard-wired spa needs an electrician at the panel. Arrange it for the day rather than hoping.

Then move. Which is the short part.

Then reconnect, refill and rebalance. Refilling and getting the water right takes longer than people plan for, and heating from cold takes many hours. If you want the tub usable by a particular day, count backwards generously.

Access

Measure the narrowest point of the whole route and the tub itself, and give us actual numbers. The side gate is the usual obstruction, generally because the fence went in after the spa did.

If it sits inside a deck surround, find out whether a section lifts, which often turns an impossible job into a simple one.

Sandy sits high enough that winter conditions are a real factor. Snow and ice on a sloped route with a spa on a dolly is not something to improvise, so clear the route properly beforehand.
