About This Service

A good deal of Provo's student population is not single people with a car full of boxes. Married students and student families run households, with furniture, appliances and children, on the budget and timetable of a student.

The advice written for students does not fit, and neither does the price of a full household move.

Just-In-Time Moving is locally owned and works throughout Provo and Utah County.

What is actually different

You have a real household: a bed or two, a sofa, a dining table, a cot, a highchair, kitchen equipment for actual cooking, and considerably more than one person's clothing.

You also have constraints a single student does not. A move has to work around naps, school runs, a spouse's shifts and a child who cannot spend a day in an empty flat.

And the timeline is frequently fixed by a housing contract, so you cannot simply take an extra week.

Book a short crew rather than a full move

The arrangement that works and is genuinely affordable.

Move the boxes yourselves over the preceding week by car, a few each evening. Then hire a crew for a short window for the furniture and the appliances only.

That takes the part which is slow, heavy and risky with children in the house, and leaves the part you can do at your own pace.

Plan the day around the children

The single most useful thing: arrange childcare for the hours the crew is there, even if it is only a few hours with a friend.

A move with a toddler underfoot takes considerably longer, and an open door with a truck outside is genuinely not a safe environment.

Set up one room at the new place first as somewhere they can be, with familiar things in it.

The essentials box matters more

Nappies, wipes, formula, medication, a change of clothes, a favourite toy and something to eat. Packed last, kept with you, never on the truck.

Set up cots and beds first at the far end, before anything else. Ask for it and it will be done.

Practical points

Empty and defrost the fridge a full day ahead. Dismantle cots yourself if you would rather, or leave it to us; standard disassembly and reassembly is included.

Tell us the buildings, the floors and whether there is a lift, and we will give you an honest estimate of the hours. It is free and in writing.

Student Movers — FAQ

How can a student family afford a move?

Move the boxes yourselves by car over the preceding week, then book a crew for a short window for furniture and appliances only. That covers the slow, heavy and risky part without paying for a full household move.

What should we do about the children?

Arrange childcare for the hours the crew is there, even just a few hours with a friend. A move with a toddler underfoot takes considerably longer, and an open door with a truck outside is genuinely not safe.

What should be set up first at the new place?

Cots and beds, before anything else, plus one room with familiar things in it as somewhere the children can be. Ask for it at the start of the day and it will be done that way.
