There is a great deal of advice about packing and almost none about the other end, which is odd, because unpacking takes longer, happens when you are already tired, and is where a move actually finishes.
Just-In-Time Moving works throughout West Valley City and Salt Lake County.
The order that works
Beds first, built and made. Ask for it at the start of the day and it will be. After a moving day, having somewhere to sleep matters more than any amount of progress elsewhere.
One bathroom. Soap, towels, toilet paper, toothbrushes. Ten minutes.
The kitchen to a working minimum. Not fully. Kettle, a few plates and mugs, cutlery, one pan, the coffee. Enough to eat and drink without leaving the house.
Anything for work or school if somebody needs it in the morning.
That is day one, and it is enough. Trying to finish the whole house on the first weekend produces exhaustion and not much else.
Then room by room, finished
The mistake most people make is unpacking a bit of everywhere, which leaves the whole house half done for weeks and nothing usable.
Finish one room completely, including putting the empty boxes out, before starting the next. A finished room is somewhere to be while the rest is chaos, and it is worth far more psychologically than four rooms at forty per cent.
Do the rooms in order of use: bedrooms, kitchen, living room, then the rest.
Break boxes down as you empty them
Immediately, flat, every time. Once a stack of intact cartons accumulates, nobody goes back and flattens them, and the garage fills up. It takes seconds each and it is the difference between a manageable pile and a second problem.

The boxes that never get opened
Set a date, three months out, and look at what is still sealed. Anything you have not needed in three months is telling you something clear, and that is the moment to act on it rather than moving it again in five years.
Label those boxes when you pack, if you can. A box you were unsure about at the packing stage is usually the same box you are unsure about now.
Ask for placement
Furniture placed where you want it, not stacked in a hallway, saves you moving heavy things yourself later. Say where things go while the crew is holding them.
