What you should tell us, unprompted
This is the part people do not realise is their job. If anything changes, we need to know, and the earlier the better.
The list of things that matter: a change of date, a change of address, more or less to move than described, a storage unit now included, the garage now coming, a large item acquired or disposed of, a change in access at either end, a building requiring a certificate of insurance.
None of these are problems in advance. All of them are problems on the morning.
Before the day
Expect confirmation of the arrangements as the date approaches. If you have not heard anything and the move is close, call. That is a reasonable thing to do and any decent company would rather you did than that you sat wondering.
It is also the point to raise anything you are unsure about. What you should do with the freezer. Whether the crew can take the shed contents. Whether they will disconnect the washing machine. Those questions are quick to answer in advance and awkward on the day.
What to ask any company
Whether they are licensed and insured, and to see it. We are licensed in Utah and carry general liability insurance. Whether the estimate is written. Whether they perform the move themselves or pass it to somebody else.
And notice whether they asked you about stairs, parking and heavy items, because a quote produced without those questions is a guess.
